Sticks and Stones Break my Bones

Life of Mzalwane (Born Again)

Living a righteous life despite the challenges we meet in church. Kholwa team spoke to Mrs Dlamini and Mr Sambo.

The Plain Truth. These Christians told Kholwa Magazine that as people from different cultures, “we face challenges in church that are being created by those assigned by our pastor to lead committees or ministries in church. When those people are given platforms to speak they tend to offend others because of their positions. Sticks and Stones Break My Bones

We have had challenges Because of those people that are being insensitive we decided to change churches. As time goes on one realises that some people are regarded as higher or much holier than other people.

It is also offending or heart breaking, if you hear someone speaking about your problem after you have confided in them. God expects us to produce the fruits of the Spirit He deposited into us. When one goes through storm there’s no support from the church and we’ve been serving and helping everywhere.

God expects us to produce the fruits of the Spirit He deposited into us. When one goes through storm there’s no support from the church and we’ve been serving and helping everywhere. One sacrifices and always avail themselves in support of others but you get no support when it happens to you. It also depends who you are some people are supported more. One ends up asking him/herself, is it because my tithe is small? People are judged according to their tithes. We are different. Offering is between you and your God. This confirms that lack of support is the main thing that people leave the church.

As much as one is there for spiritual growth but one also needs support, so it can be discouraging. We say we are Christians but only few people will support you. Now with home cells, it is only expected that you are supported by the home cell, however if you are someone with title or position you are supported by everyone. Pastor Ncala shared that when he was still involved in man’s committee counselling and home cells, he was everywhere where support was needed. When he lost a family member, he was not supported and there was a person with a position who lost even a distant relative and they were supported. That is one of the reason people criticize Christians because of the way they behave. We get hurt in our churches. Without faith it’s easy to go back to darkness.

We have to continue feeding our souls with spiritual food. When you get saved you leave everything behind and not participate in family rituals. It is saddening that the very purpose (church) you didn’t attend family things for, don’t support you when you need them. The main purpose is to reveal God through us. If we don’t support each other, it discourages people from outside.

We are judgemental as Christians. We must pray about it. We go to church everyday but we gossip and are envious. You are judged by your situation (financial or otherwise), you will be told you don’t pray enough or you’re not spiritually mature you must read the Bible, as if one is not doing that already.

As we cast stones at each other we must remember God gave us different gifts and talents. But we are judged on that. Who are we to judge?

Pride is also a weakness for Christians. We condemn each other. We must be careful and speak things that will uplift others . A genuine mistake is acceptable but others do it purposely. If you put your thought to Christ, He humbled himself to the point of death but we don’t humble ourselves and undermine people less fortunate than us.

We must respect each other and not treat people as children, especially at home cells. People like showing off in order to be recognised. People end up fitting in and getting into trouble, getting oneself into debt for wrong reasons. People do not understand that blessings are not debt related. Accept your situation, don’t compete, don’t offer with debt/loan, displaying your offering can discourage other people. Such people must understand that it is not a blessing.

Church leaders contradict themselves, the Bible says we must offer freely, but leaders put pressure on the congregation to offer. They put conditions to God’s blessings and God’s love is unconditional. Testimony helps people not displaying or showing off. Christians end up tithing more than their pockets to please the leaders. The main problem is positions, one rather be a follower. God is revealing that we must see and hear things spiritually not naturally.

We can’t give up now. Don’t impress anyone except God. Always strive for perfection. We are all equal in the eyes of God, He loves us all. AMEN By Kholwa Team
